  4.     This is a NEW addition to an already eXotic issue from your favorite
  5. bunch of Cyberlistic, to cool to be FUNKY, here's the REAL story, just
  6. for YOU crew.
  7. What you will see in this new FORUM, will be the voices that are heard
  8. around the world. I will be doing my best to bring you the Real Story,
  9. from the people who made it happen. This forum is open to those whose
  10. interests touch on the weekness, as well as those who wish to protect
  11. all from evil. This Forum will also be your access to the people who
  12. make it happen. We look forward to interviews with the entire NuKE
  13. Staff, the people at Phal/Skis, Y.A. Mcafee, ect. We also hope to draw
  14. the interest of those in the A.V sector; Dr.Solly, ect. Rebutal is only
  15. fair. There will be no FLAMMING, just the FACTS.

  18. will pick those that best express the views that represent, on a whole,
  19. the views of the readers of DnA Mag. These will be included in the next

  47.     of those who fear you most, how about letting us in on the Wonder Years
  48.     of "Aristotle."  What was your insperation that led you to become what
  49.     you are today ??

  53. Fear me! Whatever for? I keep hearing these rumblings from a number of
  54. tiny corners in the world and wonder how my being came to be something
  55. equated to 'EViL'. I am a political animal. There is nothing about me
  56. of which to be afraid. All of this AV/VX stuff came about as a result
  57. of a simple research study I did while in my senior year at the College
  58. of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia. ( Ok. Cheap plug!)  :)

  60. Essentially, I began looking at the computer underground as a source
  61. of information to aid me in writing a article entitled, 'H/P/V/A/C:
  62. The Costs As They Apply To The World Business Community'. This article
  63. was to either prove or disprove the general consensus of the business
  64. community, the claims that the computer underground was costing them
  65. millions. (It looks great on paper!) After a short period, I narrowed
  66. the scope of my focus to include only the Virus/Anti-Virus struggle.
  67. It turns out that the AV has more of a hand in what is going on in the
  68. undeground than you would first imagine at first glance. Everybody
  69. ranks on ol' McAffe. No matter if it's AV or VX, they all having some
  70. negative commentary to belch forth. I will be the first to admit, that
  71. in spite of what you might think, this guy is doing really well as a
  72. business. I don't really think you'll see John in any Fido echos,
  73. arguing with virus authors. Nor will he carry the burning cross of
  74. righteousness, beating the VX for what they do. In fact, if you watch
  75. how he operates, you just might learn something. In earlier days, a
  76. few mistakes in the public came back to haunt him, but I believe he
  77. has managed to disassociate himself from a lot of the tactics that
  78. the present day 'Holy-Rollin' AV guys are doing. Simply run down to
  79. a stock broker and order a prospectus on the guy. A friend of mine
  80. upload some excerpts from it and I was quite amazed...

  84. Two semesters of research, two 'A's, and an absolute metric buttload
  85. of computer viruses and source codes are what I have to show for my
  86. work. So I thought, 'What now?', and the obvious smacked me between the
  87. eyes. SELL 'EM! It's the way of the American entreprenuer. At first,
  88. I wasn't sure there was a market for computer viruses, but let me tell
  89. you what! I was amazed at how many people wanted these things. This
  90. is where I started getting this 'EViL' stigma tagged to my name. The
  91. anti-virus community, the 'AV', is made up of people that don't want
  92. me telling the general public what is actually going on with all this
  93. - 'The Virus That Ate New York' hype.

  95. Basically, it is like this; there are some people with commercially
  96. vested interests that are playing the media and legislative bodies
  97. like a orchestra. Their goal is to obtain legislation or regulation
  98. that will restrict your rights with respect to what you can and cannot
  99. have. They know full well that most 'legitimate' people will stop
  100. tinkering around and that the hardcore underground will continue even
  101. after such things are in place. This means that information will soon
  102. become a marketable commodity in this field and they want a dominant
  103. position if and when it does. If people like myself can be restricted
  104. from research, then fewer people will have access to information, thus
  105. the basic concepts of economic supply and demand will yield a greater
  106. profit for those who enjoy the fruits of approval.

  110.            general activity of GROUPS as we have come to know them ??

  114. I see NuKE trying to legitimize their existance with a different
  115. approach to things they enjoy doing. Knowing that the AV uses things
  116. like the VCL to market their product, I have been working on getting
  117. some folks to market their product as a 'Researcher's Toolkit' and
  118. selling it under licensing agreements. I don't however advocate writing
  119. the problem and subsequently selling the cure. In addition to this,
  120. I am presently getting a FiDO echo known as 'NuKE_THEWORLD', put on
  121. the backbone. This will serve in allowing people with questions about
  122. viruses and the people behind the scene, the opportunity to get an
  123. unbiased or censored answer staight from the horses mouth. It also
  124. gives people in the underground the chance to be heard on an equal
  125. platform. Perhaps here, something can be learned from both sides of
  126. the fence.

  132.     Yes! When ARCV was arrested in England for phreaking, the police
  133. rushed in and seized his computer, yet it was not his computer he
  134. used in phreaking. It was his phone. They already knew that he,
  135. (Apache Warrior), was tied into his neighbors house with a drop
  136. line, but they needed a reason to seize his machine. Once they took
  137. his computer, naturally they found viruses that he 'alledgedly' had
  138. written. To date, he has yet to be charged and they are still holding
  139. his equipment. The twist here is that Dr. Solomon is supposedly a
  140. technical advisor on this case and he is the person who is running
  141. amuck telling the world about the case. Apache Warrior is basically
  142. being tried in public via FiDO and INTERNET. This is where I get a
  143. tad bit annoyed. It was alledged by someone that *I* was a member of
  144. this ARCV group. Dr. Solomon and other are running around every chance
  145. they get re-telling this story in hopes that it becomes some type of
  146. 'general knowledge' and enough to get me taken to England to disclaim
  147. the allegation. Solomon and I have spent hours on the phone in the
  148. last 10 months, discussing this and other issues. He knows full well
  149. that I am not and have never been a member of ARCV. What he does know
  150. is that a 34 year old man with a wife a two kids, can't very well
  151. take off and go to England to defend crap like this. So, in hope
  152. of silencing my voice, he continues to chatter. THIS is what chaps
  153. my ass and the drive for me to continue exposing software developer's
  154. true light.

  158. Of course! :) Unless you're a big, mean mother and can really defend
  159. yourself well... Think long and hard before you let the 'coolness'
  160. of the computer underground put you in a jailhouse with a bunch of
  161. guys who want to play EDNA with you. You can rest assured that some
  162. fool in jail will be thinking 'long and hard' about you...
